Router con TOR nel cuore

Che ne dite di far trovare nella calza della befana un router compatibile con OpenWRT ai vostri amici geek preferiti?

Perché ve lo dico? Presto detto

E' in lavorazione una versione di TOR che girerà in maniera nativa all'interno della "distro" per router OpenWRT (qui la lista completa dell'hardware compatibile http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/start).

Tra le funzionalità, il routing di tutti i protocolli o di parte di essi sulla rete tor in maniera automatica e funzionalità di nodo relay per gli utilizzatori nel network.

I vantaggi che vedo in una soluzione del genere sono molti, peccato che nessun vendor adotterà (per ora) tale distro modificata per i propri dispositivi, lasciando, ancora un volta, ad un pubblico di nicchia il piacere di "autocostruirsi" l'apparecchiatura.

Sono certo che questa iniziativa darà un bel boost a questo progetto che amo particolarmente.

A router that runs the Tor software prevents Web tracking.
Many political activists, nonprofits, and businesses use an anonymity system called Tor to encrypt and obscure what they do on the Internet. Now the U.S.-based nonprofit that distributes Tor is developing a low-cost home router with the same privacy protection built in.

The Tor software masks Web traffic by encrypting network messages and passing them through a series of relays (each Tor client can also become a relay for other users' messages). But using Tor has typically meant installing the software on a computer and then tweaking its operating system to ensure that all traffic is routed correctly through the program.
